Nursery

This past week, Brandon (with some help from Jem) has been working on converting the "purple room" into a nursery! Brandon and I picked out colors a few weeks earlier, and this past weekend we drove to IKEA to pick up a couple of items for the room. The crib had been delivered a week earlier, but was still in it's box....and the time was finally right to start the make-over process!


It's actually been really fun seeing my ideas come to life...I had a vision of what I wanted the room to look like. I pictured pink and white, a little girly, but not baby-ish. I have to hand it to Brandon - he was such a trooper throughout this whole thing. It was a LOT that I was asking for....not only to paint the walls & ceiling, but to paint all of the brown trim (to white), paint the closet doors (white again) AND take the window trims off and paint THOSE too! He was awesome! And I have to say, the trim/door painting made ALL the difference to the overall look. It looks amazing. It's brighter, happier, and just all around more lovely. I'll talk more about the finished look when the nursery is actually complete...and of course I'll have lots more photos to share then :) Stay tuned!

Pioneer Woman In Town!!!

Ok, so I'm slightly obsessed with the Pioneer Woman , not like a stalker obesessed....but still....kinda obsessed :). I check her blog at LEAST once a day, sometimes more.... because let's face it, she's a rock star! For those of you that DON'T know who she is, let me explain. Joy Day 13

Day 13: Their Routines...document what it is they do on a regular basis... Jem has a routine that he always follows when he gets home from school. We call it doing his "Jobs". He unpacks his backpack and gives me his daily folder, then unloads his lunchbox. He goes upstairs and gets into his PJ's and puts his clothes away, and then....well then he practices his Piano lesson for the week. Jem has been taking piano since September, and he really loves it. It's not really a chore to have him practice - he does it willingly and happily. I love listening to him play - and he quite likes having an audience ;) At the moment he is practicing 2 songs - the Star Wars Theme Song (his favorite) & This Is Your Land.

Joy Day 11

Day 11: Dreams... Today I was supposed to photograph something that represented the dreams of my loved one... and while I was prepared to get my camera out later in the day and do just that - something surprising happened :) So let's just say that this post is now no longer about dreams. Sorry. I decided to just go with the flow, and document my 'surprise' instead. What is it, you ask? Hmmm.... well, let's start at the beginning. My husband is away on a business trip. Gone for what, 7 days already? And he'll be gone a while more. He won't be here on Valentine's day, which makes me sadder than sad. Don't ask me why. It's not like we ever celebrate "valentine's day" anyway. But the fact that I CAN'T even if I decided I WANTED TO makes me feel bad. Boy, I really miss my Brandon. This week has gone by very slowly for us. Thank goodness I've been busy, because I imagine it would have been much worse. I'm thankful for my great fam...
