What's New With The Carter Family

Sunday was just the most divine day! The temperature reached the high 70's - it was sunny and warm and oh so different from the night before :) The night I was meeting the Pioneer Woman, it was wildly stormy and raining here in Lake Stevens. Not so the next day :) Just look at these pictures, taken at Lundeen Park, just down the road. We went there with the Skinners for a little lunch. It was so nice! Some Subway sandwiches, some sunshine, and two cousins that (for now!) still love to play and cuddle!

Ok, so I'm slightly obsessed with the Pioneer Woman , not like a stalker obesessed....but still....kinda obsessed :). I check her blog at LEAST once a day, sometimes more.... because let's face it, she's a rock star! For those of you that DON'T know who she is, let me explain. Pioneer Woman is a lady named Ree, who lives in Oklahoma. The beginning of her 'pioneering' started when this city girl met and fell in love with a real life cowboy. She is now a married to this man (who she affectionately calls Marlboro Man) and they live on a working cattle ranch with their 4 children. So how do I know about her? Well, a few years ago she decided to start up her own blog - you know, like I have - to share information about her little family with friends and family. Again, like I did :). Except for one minor difference - in 3 short years, she happens to have MILLIONS of visitors a month. That's right, MILLIONS of people follow her! Why? Because she's a rock sta...

About a 45 minute drive North from where we live is this town called Mount Vernon. Around this town are lots of farms that grow beautiful flowers - tulips in particular! We try to make a trip up here every few years to visit the flower fields in bloom....and this year we drove up with the Skinners on a beautiful sunny Sunday, to Roozengarde - the farm we like to visit. Here are some pictures from our day!

We sure do love our little girl :) And she sure loves her toys! This one in particular has been her favorite for some time now....we've even had it in 3 different colors! She likes to whack it against the floor (mock killing it I assume) and bite it until the squeaker stops squeaking. Ahhhh....Snickers really loves her toys!

There were two very important things to remember about our Anniversary this year. One, we went for a romantic lunch at the top of the Space Needle in downtown Seattle, that was both scrumptious (albeit overpriced) and breathtaking. Two, I spent the whole week referring to our 'anniversary' as our "sexy legs" celebration. Please note: I am not, nor have I ever been, a Bingo Player. However some bizzare spirit overtook my brain this week and I COULD NOT, WOULD NOT stop saying this LOL. Easter was really laid back this year - and I liked it! It all started at about 8am on Saturday, when I decided I was going to tackle a new recipe that I'd found on The Pioneer Woman's website a few days back - Hot Cross Buns. With my sous chef by my side (my helpful husband haha!) I made these DELICIOUS treats! Take a look! Don't they look scrumptious? They seriously were! Kind of like a warm cinnamon roll, but a little more bread-like. SO YUMMY! If you want to try this out for yourself, check out the recipe HERE. Later that day we had our family (the Skinners) come by for "Linner" (kind of a late lunch/early dinner) - thanks Brandon, for our great roast chicken meal! Before we ate though, I gave everyone a dyed egg for our traditional Greek Easter egg cracking :) As usual, Jem had the only remaining uncracked egg. Seriously, that kid keeps picking the best egg year after year! You'd think it was rigged or something (no such luck). We ended the day with an Ea...

It had been over 6 years since we had taken a family picture. And I'm not talking about the kind you take yourself, with your rinky dink camera and the self timer :) I'm talking about a full on, "professional" shot. The last one we took was not exactly what you'd call professional - unless that teen working at Sears (who couldn't even center our family in the shot) can be considered 'professional'. So needless to say, I was VERY ready for an updated photo to hang on my wall! Ready to see what we got as a replacement? ***Drumroll Please*** Needless to say, I am absolutely THRILLED with this photo of us!
