Joy Day 11

Day 11: Dreams...

Today I was supposed to photograph something that represented the dreams of my loved one... and while I was prepared to get my camera out later in the day and do just that - something surprising happened :) So let's just say that this post is now no longer about dreams. Sorry. I decided to just go with the flow, and document my 'surprise' instead.

What is it, you ask? Hmmm.... well, let's start at the beginning.

My husband is away on a business trip. Gone for what, 7 days already? And he'll be gone a while more. He won't be here on Valentine's day, which makes me sadder than sad. Don't ask me why. It's not like we ever celebrate "valentine's day" anyway. But the fact that I CAN'T even if I decided I WANTED TO makes me feel bad. Boy, I really miss my Brandon.

This week has gone by very slowly for us. Thank goodness I've been busy, because I imagine it would have been much worse. I'm thankful for my great family and friends who've kept me sane and busy :) Today, Friday, was another jam packed day. I drove Jem to school and accompanied him on a field trip. We went and saw the play "Giggle, Giggle, Quack" in Everett. It was a good morning, but involved lots of driving. By the time I dropped him and 2 of his classmates back at school I was tired and ready to go home. Now to the surprise.

As I'm pulling into my driveway, what do I see? Why there's a box - a rather long box - laying on the bench on my porch. I'm curious! I get out of my car and see that it says "Pro Flowers" along the side and start to get excited....I look at the label....yep, it's addressed to me!

I can't wait to get it inside! I open it up.....

And look what was inside!!! A beautiful red vase, 25 red-pink-and-white roses, a small box of chocolates and a note that says "Love you! Brandon".

Be still my heart :) My sweetie thought of me!

And let me tell you, they are the most gorgeous flowers! Just beautiful!

And uhh....I think I had a slightly jealous dog. She thought the flowers should have been for her. It's ok Snickers, I can share.

Day 7: Generations: Capture the generations surrounding your loved one... I took this opportunity to photograph our hands :) I remember when Jem's hand was so little and how teeny and soft it felt in mine.....and now when I see our hands together I can hardly believe it. His hand is almost as big as mine, though it is much softer and less wrinkled. He has his daddy's long fingers. He will have big, strong hands just like him. Ahhhh....the years have gone by so fast....I wish I could keep him little forever! This photograph was taken at bedtime, using an external flash that bounced light from the ceiling. The aperture was 4.0 , shutter speed was 1/125 and the ISO was 200 . Seriously...the external flash makes all the difference - I would not have been able to get a picture {inside at night} without it.

Stampin' Up!

How many of you have heard of Stampin' Up!? It's an at home party based rubber stamping company. Whew! That was a mouthful! Stampin' Up! has been around for years, and makes beautiful rubber stamp sets, exclusive colored inks/papers/markers and a ton of accessories! I have been using their products for a few years now, and just recently signed on to become a demonstrator myself! Yes, that's right........I am now open for business *LOL*. I am having my very first party in 2 weeks time, with my friend Katie hostessing a gathering! I will be demonstrating and allowing the guests to make two or three projects (depending on time) and will have the current catalog available for anyone who'd like to order (perhaps there is something they just can't live without -- hee hee, I certainly know that feeling!). Here are two of the projects I am thinking of doing; a heart card using the "Always" stamp set and a gift card holder using the "Baroque Motifs" ...

Joy Day 13

Day 13: Their Routines...document what it is they do on a regular basis... Jem has a routine that he always follows when he gets home from school. We call it doing his "Jobs". He unpacks his backpack and gives me his daily folder, then unloads his lunchbox. He goes upstairs and gets into his PJ's and puts his clothes away, and then....well then he practices his Piano lesson for the week. Jem has been taking piano since September, and he really loves it. It's not really a chore to have him practice - he does it willingly and happily. I love listening to him play - and he quite likes having an audience ;) At the moment he is practicing 2 songs - the Star Wars Theme Song (his favorite) & This Is Your Land.
