Australian Trip

This past August, Jem and I were lucky enough to be able to take a month long trip down to Australia! It was Jem's second time there, and he was VERY excited to be able to see his Nunna, Papou, Uncle Con, Bouz Nunnu and all of the friends and family I've spoken so much of. We were able to spend time with my beloved Tzia Rose, Bill's girls Jaymie and Alex (who will always have a very special place in my heart), and my bestest friend from high school and beyond, Joanne. I am so glad that Jem got to spend some time with these very special people. Here they are below.....

We got to visit with many other friends and family during our trip - thank you to everyone who came to see us or met up with us, we really loved seeing you again! Jem and I have some pretty awesome memories of our holiday - going to the beach to collect shells with Papou, playing cards for money (haha!), my dad's awesome (did I say AWESOME?) greek salad, fish and chips on the beach, scrapbook store shopping, watching greek soap operas on the red couch (it's a great story, ask me about it sometime!), our sleepover at Tzia Rose's, going to scienceworks with 'aunty' Jo.... but I think the most fun we had was when we all went to Luna Park (at least that's probably what Jem would tell you). I still can't believe that my mum went on ALL of the rides with Jem! What a trooper (and daredevil!). I love that Jem learnt all of the aussie words for things too....like 'chips' are french fries, 'lollies' is the name for candy, and 'fairy floss' means cotton candy. Speaking of which, check out my favorite Luna Park photo below!

Day 7: Generations: Capture the generations surrounding your loved one... I took this opportunity to photograph our hands :) I remember when Jem's hand was so little and how teeny and soft it felt in mine.....and now when I see our hands together I can hardly believe it. His hand is almost as big as mine, though it is much softer and less wrinkled. He has his daddy's long fingers. He will have big, strong hands just like him. Ahhhh....the years have gone by so fast....I wish I could keep him little forever! This photograph was taken at bedtime, using an external flash that bounced light from the ceiling. The aperture was 4.0 , shutter speed was 1/125 and the ISO was 200 . Seriously...the external flash makes all the difference - I would not have been able to get a picture {inside at night} without it.

Stampin' Up!

How many of you have heard of Stampin' Up!? It's an at home party based rubber stamping company. Whew! That was a mouthful! Stampin' Up! has been around for years, and makes beautiful rubber stamp sets, exclusive colored inks/papers/markers and a ton of accessories! I have been using their products for a few years now, and just recently signed on to become a demonstrator myself! Yes, that's right........I am now open for business *LOL*. I am having my very first party in 2 weeks time, with my friend Katie hostessing a gathering! I will be demonstrating and allowing the guests to make two or three projects (depending on time) and will have the current catalog available for anyone who'd like to order (perhaps there is something they just can't live without -- hee hee, I certainly know that feeling!). Here are two of the projects I am thinking of doing; a heart card using the "Always" stamp set and a gift card holder using the "Baroque Motifs" ...

Joy Day 13

Day 13: Their Routines...document what it is they do on a regular basis... Jem has a routine that he always follows when he gets home from school. We call it doing his "Jobs". He unpacks his backpack and gives me his daily folder, then unloads his lunchbox. He goes upstairs and gets into his PJ's and puts his clothes away, and then....well then he practices his Piano lesson for the week. Jem has been taking piano since September, and he really loves it. It's not really a chore to have him practice - he does it willingly and happily. I love listening to him play - and he quite likes having an audience ;) At the moment he is practicing 2 songs - the Star Wars Theme Song (his favorite) & This Is Your Land.
